Guild Welcome Scroll

Greetings and Welcome to the Wizards Guild.

First let me introduce myself, I am Millamber, Farseer of Magic and Guild Master of the Wizards Guild. If you are looking at this scroll then you have probably joined the guild or are thinking about it. This has been written to help you help yourself. It by no means contains all the information you will need, but it is a good place to start. I hope your time with us is both rewarding and enjoyable.

You can also download a copy from here.

1. Guild Ethos.

A Wizard is one that joins The Wizards Guild. Regardless of profession, they become Wizards and strive to perfect the Art of Magic in all its forms. Perfection is the goal that all aspire, though it is recognized few will achieve. The Guild does not dictate how members should behave. We are a guild with broad membership that has many differing views on life. However, there is a commonality that draws people together under the umbrella of Wizards.

      1. Wizards are honest, thoughtful and respectful towards others at all times.

      2. Wizards are neither superior nor inferior to another person.

      3. Wizards practice the light side of magic. Greed and personal advancement at the cost of others are not concepts practiced by Wizards.

      4. Wizards are committed to learning and perfecting the Art of Magic.

      5. Wizards are urged to become friends with all in the Guild. We unite under a common name and purpose. Together, as comrades, we shall further everyone's understanding and satisfaction of the World.

      6. A Wizard's Family is the Guild. You live, and perhaps die, for them.

      7. Wisdom is the greatest asset a Guild can have. Through Wisdom and knowledge, comes power. The power to assist all those around us. Wizards are encouraged to learn from each other, to support each others quests for knowledge.

      8. Wizards know that the experience is best gained through personal achievement or co-operation within a group. Experience "earned" by hanging on to someone's coattails may increase your abilities but not you’re Wisdom.

      9. A Wizard shall not inhibit another wizard's opportunity at achieving wisdom by giving out quest answers, though vague hints to the weary adventurer are permitted.

     10. Wizards do their best to support the Guild and its members, providing The Wizard's Ethos is not broken in the process. Wizards are encouraged to share their ideas for and with the Guild.

     11. Wizards air their grievances within the confines of the Guild. Public displays of disunity do not advance the guild and do not rectify the situation. A civilized meeting with Patrons and Leaders will solve difficulties far more effectively.

     12. The Ethos is the summation of a way of life, not hard and fast rules. A Wizard interprets the above and applies its spirit, not its word.

Guidance on any aspects of this Ethos can be obtained from the Guild's Leaders or Elders.

2. Guild Officers

The Guild Officers of the guild are…..

Immortal – Lord Raislin, Immortal of Magic

GuildMaster Sherrie

Guild Elder – Millamber

Guild lieutenants – Blackwing, AngeliquePsyche, Sinter.

3. Getting help.

The best way to get help in the guild is by doing a guild who GWHO and look for either GL or ~M~ or ~m~ in guild members titles. This show they are either a mentor or a guild leader. You could also guild shout for help from other members, but please remember to keep you guild shouts GSH <text> in character.

4. Guild Map.

The guild map can be found at http://thewizardsguild.co.uk/GuildMap.html . The map will help you get around the guild. If you click on the room you’re interested in, a pop-up list of all Skills, Spells and items for that location will appear.

5. Guild Scrolls.

These are the general scrolls of the guild and can be found at the following place.

http://thewizardsguild.co.uk/. This site also contains links to other guild related sites, including the mentors site, where information on just about everything can be found including class guides, spells and skills, RP, amour, hunting areas, enchanting etc,, the list goes on. If you wish to know more go take a look. <G>. This should be your first stop to find out anything about being a wizard. The info your looking for is probably contained in there, or in the one the linked sites. If it isn’t let me know and it will be <g>.

6. Guild Circles.

Mentors Circle – As a new member of the wizard guild a mentor can assist you in your early experience about the guild and Norland (lands of Terris). A mentor is one who is knowledgeable and experienced and takes time to aid those in need with their training, and teaches young Wizard's the ways of the guild. Mentors understand the various magic using classes Shaman, Wizard and Sorcerer. They know what it will take to survive in the lands, as to the combinations of skills and spells to allow you to seek out your destiny.

If you desire a mentor, one can be assigned to you or you can look in the Guild Who (gwho) and look for a wizard with the designation ~m~ (Mentor in Training) ~M~ ( Mentors)  ~EM~ (Elder Mentor) in their guild title prefix. Guild leaders also server as mentors.  The mentor scrolls can be found in the following location - http://www.wizard-mentors.co.uk

“My advice is to try and help yourself first, if you then get stuck seek out a mentor.”

Muddled Millamber, Farseer of Magic

Dragon Alliance The Dragon Alliance is made up of members of the guild who call themselves Dragon Riders. These riders care for the guilds dragons, in hopes that one day another member of the guild will come to the guild stables in search of their very own dragon friend. This is not their sole purpose, but rather what most Wizards see. The other task members of this circle share is keeping order within the realm between the guild and the dragons. Sometimes this task can become harder than it sounds, but with a little dedication and patience it is all worth the trouble.

Not always appreciated for the work they do, these riders are up to any task and welcome any who wish to help. If you are interested in joining this circle or are in search of more on the guild dragons, please get in touch with any GL (Guild Officer) or more information can be found at http://www.TheWizardsGuild.co.uk/DA.htm

Events / Contests -  Events / Contests - Periodically, guild-wide and land-wide events are held by Guild Officers and Members alike. Everyone is encouraged to invent their own type of competition, but anyone that has the motivation can get help organizing or coming up with ideas for an event. See any GL or the Guild Master for more information on the Events Circle and the Sentinel Part reward system. Other information can be found at http://www.TheWizardsGuild.co.uk/Events.html

7. Guild Commands.

The command GSH or GSHOUT will allow you to talk to your fellow guild members, please remember it’s only polite to greet each other and say your farewells when leaving. Manners maketh the man (or lady) and costeth nothing.

The command GWHO will let you see who else is around in the guild. If you need help look for the ~M~ or GL or GM in guild titles.

The command GNOTICES will show you the guilds notices. On this you will find things of interest and links to some of the guilds web sites.

The command GUILDLOCKER <item name> will allow you to place items you no longer want in the guild locker. Please only put items in here that you think will be usefull to other guild members.

8. Guild Dragons.

The dragons that bond with guild members can be approached after you attain the guildrank of Mage of the Dragon (glvl 20). Before you can be bonded with your dragon friend you will need to speak to a GL (guild officer) who will interview you. If you pass the interview and have first rate riding you will then be quested on completion of your quest, a dragon will be found that wishes to bond with you.

The guild dragons available are Golden, Yellow, Red and Green.

9. Guild Items.

The guild has many items, ranging from inexpensive to expensive, be it amour/clothes, jewelry and mounts. Please visit the guild tutors to see what’s available, some of the items will require you to be of a certain glvl to be able to buy them.

Also the guild has 3 staffs, the Magestaff you gain on joining the guild, The Greater Magestaff you gain when completing a guild quest, and The Mentors staff of Magic which is award to Mentors who have earnt it.

The guild also has several other species of dragons who usually bond only with members of the Dragon Alliance (DA) or Mentors.

10. Guild Titles.

Guild titles are awarded by me at anytime I feel you deserve one. Or when you have attained the guildrank of  Arch Mage you may pick your own title. Any title you ask for must be IC and must not go against the Ethos, please think very carefully before asking as refusal sometimes offends people.
