The Wizards Guild of Devardec |
|
Guild Ethos & Interpretations Saraphine's thoughts on the ethos 1. Wizards are honest, thoughtful and respectful towards others at all times. Everyone is different and we are all entitled to our own opinions and our own personalities, and should respect others even if they differ from us. Its also important to be honest not only to others, but also to ourselves.
We are all equal reguardless of our level or knowledge. We all have something to learn. You may be one of the wisest people in all the lands, and you still have much to learn. Therefore we are all equal and are not better or worse than anyone else.
Wizards seek to gain knowledge and to perfect the art of magic. On the contrary we are not selfish. We do not put ourselves before others.
Wizards strive to better understand all forms of magic. Through this knowledge we can better understand ourselves, and our purpose. Magic is to a wizard, as a sword is to a barbarian.
The guild is our family. Home away from home. By comunicating and growing together, we are stronger. We all are here for the same reason, and can relate to one another and its important to become friends with everyone in the guild to make the guild stronger.
We are truly a family within the guild, and we would do absoluely anything for each other, even if it costs us our life.
As wizards we try to help others as much as possible. This cannot be done without wisdowm and knowledge. We can better ourselves with wisdom and knowledge, therefore being able to help others. Learning from each other, helps us all grow as a whole.
If you are constantly showing someone what to do and how to do it, they will never learn anything. We all have to be able to stand on our own, which cannot be done if were being babied all the time.
A wizard shouldnt deprive another of learning, by giving out direct quest answers. Again they will never learn anything or be able to stand on their own. Not only will you be depriving them or learning something, but you will be depriving them of the pride they will feel when they do it themselves.
Its always important to be able to share your ideas with the guild, and to be outspoken with them. As long as you keep to the ethos, all wizards should respect your ideas and support you.
Fighting in public about your grievances with the guild, will not settle anything. On the contrary, speaking in a private meaning with guild leaders is a much more efficient way of settling any problem. Airing your dislikes in public makes the guild look bad. Have respect for the guild and its members, and speak to someone in private.
Actions speak louder than words. You could quote the ethos all day, and it wouldnt mean anything if you didnt live by it. |
