Guild Ethos & Interpretations

Miercole's thoughts on the ethos

1. Wizards are honest, thoughtful and respectful towards others at all times.
I think this one is clear and precise. And is based on the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would want done unto yourself" and should be respected and followed as it is very
important.

2. Wizards are neither superior nor inferior to another person. All persons are different and offer a unique insight.
This one teachers understanding and accepting all others. A Wizard should be respectful of another person's differences and likenesses and should not judge based on anything but person experience.

3. Wizards practise the light side of magic. Greed and personal advancement at the cost of others are not concepts practised byWizards.
We are not the Warlocks. We do not follow greed at all costs and we do not backstab eachother for power, gold or anything else. We are a family and should treat eachother accordingly.

4. Wizards are committed to learning and perfecting the Art of Magic.
We are an institute based on the power and knowledge of magic and we should strive to rach complete enlightenment in the art.

5. Wizards are urged to become friends with all in the Guild. We unite under a common name and purpose. Together, as comrades, we shall further everyone's understanding and satisfaction of the World.
We are a family, we are all "in it" together and thus we should all get a long or at least try to. We can not as a guild achieve full enlightenment if we do not work together.

6. Treat the Guild as family.
See 5.

7. Wisdom is the greatest asset a Guild can have. Through Wisdom and knowledge, comes power. The power to assist all those around us. Wizards are encouraged to learn from each other, to support each others quests for knowledge.
See 5.

8. Wizards know that the experience is best gained through personal achievement or co-operation within a group. Experience "earned" by hanging on to someone's coattails may increase your abilities but not your Wisdom.
No one in Terris can fully understand something unless they experience it themselves. While it is not as easy anymore to get exp by hanging on the cottails of another, it is possible  in some ways and one should remember that even though it is, it is against the rules and  will not allow you to grow properly as a Wizard.

9. A Wizard shall not inhibit another wizard's opportunity at achieving wisdom by giving out quest answers, though vauge hints to the weary adventurer are permitted.
It is nice to give hints to quests, and help a fellow wizard, but giving away answers is not helping the wizard. Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a life time.

10. Wizards do their best to support the Guild and its members, providing The Wizard's Ethos is not broken in the process. Wizards are encouraged to share their ideas for and with the Guild.
Allways speak your mind, even when your lips quiver. Be respectful of course, but make sure if you feel that you are heard within the guild.

11. Wizards air their grievances within the confines of the Guild. Public displays of disunity do not advance the guild and do not rectify the situation. A civilised meeting with Patrons and Leaders will solve difficulties far more effectively.
Simply don't show disunity to outsiders. IF there is disunity try to solve it in private between the two or three or however many are having the problem or take it up with a guild leader.

12. The Ethos is the summation of a way of life, not hard and fast rules. A Wizard interprets the above and applies its spirit, not itsword.
Do what you know in your heart is right and have fun.
