History:
Upon a stoop,
off of Academy Road, sat a little white baskest, with a white blanket
covering it. From the basket, came a wretched wailing noise, painful to
listen to for everyone who heard it. As the door to the serine house sprang
open, out came a grumpy old mage, with an angry look on his face. Expecting
to find a state of emergency on the street, we has dumb-founded by the
wailing baby sitting on his porch.
Not knowing what else to do, the old Wizard took in the baby, and decided he'd have to take care of it, at least for now. And so began the never-ending training of a young mageling, Hybris. The old mage soon took a liking to the little one, who at such a young age, began to learn the ways of the magiks at an astounding pace. The years passed, and Hybris soon had learned all that the elder mage could teach him. When Hybris was 7, he confronted his 'father' as to who his real parents were. Unable to find a solution, Hybris set out on a journey to discover his true past. It didn't take long for him to meet another experienced traveling mage, that took Hybris under his wing. Strugling onward, in hopes of figuring out his past, he continued to learn from his mentor. Unlike his previous mentor, who had been well learned in the ways of Sorcery Magiks, this mentor was a master of the Natural Magiks. About two years after he had embarked on his original journey to find his family, Hybris found himself back in Goldcroft, standing on the porch where he was fist discovered. The house was abandoned, and he learned from the neighbors that the old mage had passed on. His only known link to this world had passed ... He decided he was better off on the road again. A year to the day later, while he was traveling through Woodtop, he ran into a Half-Elf who called himself Soulhealer. The resmblance between Hybris and Soulhealer was remarkable, and they both noticed it right away. Soulhealer was quite a bit older than Hybris though, so Hybris decided to study under Soulhealer for a few years, until he felt the need to move on. Soon after their tutoring began, Hybris learned that Soulhealer was his distant cousin. Although the exactly family tree was not known, they knew they were somehow related. For the rest of his stay, Hybris spent the time when he wasn't learning, gathering information from all of the citizens of Woodtop. He was able to discover that his mother was a Half-Elf, and that she had run off with a Human many years ago. Her family had disowned her when they found out she was pregnant out of wedlock, and the Human was not allowed to enter the city again. For unknown causes, the mother passed, not long after she gave birth, and the father was unable to take care of the child on his own. As Hybris learned this information, piece by piece, so much more of his life seemed to make sense. He had always felt a strong connection to the Elven race, but had always thought he was purely Human. Now he knew he did have Elven blood corsing through his veins, and he could now understand how he had become so adept at the ways of the Magiks at such a young age. The night that he finally pieced it all together, he decided he had to go, find a place for himself to live. He wandered for a few more years, until he found a place where he felt comfortable. On his 18th birthday, he stumbled across a man named Illuin. This Illuin character was looking for a spell book of some kind. Hybris reached into his pack, and withdrew his own personal spell book. Having finished commiting all of his old spells to memory, he no longer had use for the ancient book. Handing it over to Illuin, he began a whole new life, and entered into a whole new family: The Wizard's Guild.
